It’s about time I started my blog! This ideally is to store my news as I prepare to leave on the biggest adventure of my life so far, and my reflections etc during my 27 months of service in Zambia.
More to come, but here’s a quick breakdown: Nominated last December. Then a 5 month process to become dentally and medically cleared (May 31). Next came a 4 month period of sporadic communication as PC headquarters wanted to know everything about me twice. During this time I read and heard a scary amount of news about budget cuts, and the economic contitions’ detrimental effect on the PC. Less $ = Less Volunteers. I looked for jobs and classes to take to boost my resume. Sat Sept. 20 I got the BIG invitation packet. I accepted an Environmental Education position first thing Monday morning. I initially was leaving Feb 25th, but last week we were told our departure was moved up to Feb 17th.
